Not to please Thee,
for that is not within me,
for it could only be found on the tree,
paid and wrought in full on Calvary.
Christ the only one bringing peace, setting free,
by abiding under the just wrath deserved by me.
For that is not within me,
to please Thee,
for I am full of sin and filthy.
Oh but by adoring and believing in His loving grace,
joy and peace fills my face,
to do what is well-pleasing for Thee,
yes indeed that the Spirit works within me…
What my loving Father requires,
that is all my heart desires,
for in my stead Christ pleased Thee.
Thy only Son died for me,
for that was not within me.
O Father let me rest in this assuredly.
